Join us for an 8-day journey exploring the best there is to offer in Accra, Kumasi and the Cape Coast. We will experience the vibes of Accra and the history of the Ashanti Empire in Kumasi and the Cape Coast.

Most of our time we will be in Accra -Walk through laneways and meet locals as they prepare for evening meals, while kids play football and other games. In the evening you can sample Accra's lively nightlife, heading out to one of the many bars and restaurants that can be found all over this surprising city.
The Garden City’ of Kumasi. Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti Region, in southern Ghana. It’s known as a center for Ashanti culture. In the huge, open-air Kejetia Market, stalls sell everything from glass beads to Ashanti sandals. The National Cultural Centre offers craft workshops and dance performances.

DAY 1 Arrive ACCRA
Welcome to Ghana! Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, your private English-speaking guide welcomes you and takes you to your private vehicle for the transfer to your hotel.
Overnight at the Accra City Hotel, or similar, in Accra
DAY 2 ACCRA CITY TOUR
After Breakfast, your guide meets you at the hotel and takes you on a Private Half Day Tour of Accra, passing through the economic and administrative districts. Today, you will visit the Independence Square where you will see the enclosed flame of African liberation, which was lit by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1961. Then, see the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, final resting place of Ghana’s first president. Continue to James Town, one of Accra’s most historic neighbourhoods, where history resides on every corner. Best known for its lighthouses as a navigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf of Guinea.
You will also visit the uniquely designed Casket Shops. It may interest you to know a little bit about how these fancy coffins are designed.
Return to your hotel after the tour and enjoy the remainder of day at your leisure.
In the evening, you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 3 ACCRA – KUMASI
After Breakfast, your guide meets you at the hotel and takes you on a scenic drive to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire, to explore the legends of the famous Ashantis, whose legacies are still evident today.
Founded in 1695 by the Asantehene (King) Osei Tutu, Kumasi showcase palaces, forts, museums and places of worship which provide a distinct backdrop for important festivals and ceremonies which are still on high importance in Ashanti culture.
Kumasi may surprise you, being the most dynamic marketplace in West Africa and the second largest city in Ghana.
Upon arrival at the hotel, enjoy the remainder of day at your leisure.
You will stay 3 nights at the Fredericks Lodge, or similar, in Kumasi.
DAY 4 KUMASI
After Breakfast, your private guide meets you at the hotel and take you on a Full Day Tour Exploring the Rich Ashanti Culture. First, visit the National Cultural Center, which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of the brass makers, potters and batik makers. Exhibits in this museum include a replica of the famed Golden Stool, which is believed to have descended from the sky and is the spiritual symbol of unity for the Ashanti people. Then, continue and visit Manhiya Palace, official residence of Ashanti Kings until 1974 and now a museum containing treasured items relating to the Ashanti Kingdom.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will travel to the historic village of Nkwantakese for a grand durbar of Chiefs. We shall be officially welcomed to the Ashanti Kingdom. The reception will include a colourful Durbar where the chief and his elders will welcome us. The pageantry will be welcome addresses and cultural performances by the most accomplished cultural groups in the Ashanti region. You will be encouraged and given the opportunity to join in and display your artistic skills.
Return to your hotel in Kumasi after the tour.

DAY 5 KUMASI
After Breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the day in Kumasi at your leisure.
Overnight in Kumasi.
DAY 6 KUMASI – CAPE COAST
After Breakfast at the hotel, depart to Cape Coast.
On your way, stop at Kakum National Park, one of the West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway, made up of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 30m above the forest floor. Choose between a 2km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer, or take a walk on the canopy walkway!
Lunch will be included en-route.
Continue to Cape Coast and stop at the Elmina Castle, the site of the first European contact with West Africans when the Portuguese landed here in 1471. Elmina Castle, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is the first European structure in sub-Saharan Africa. Today, Lunch is free at your leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Ridge Royal Hotel, or similar.

DAY 7 CAPE COAST – ACCRA
After Breakfast at hotel, with your English speaking guide, you will visit the Cape Coast Castle, another restored Unesco World Heritage Site, wich also houses the West African Historical Museum by Smithonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994.
Then, return to Accra in the afternoon and enjoy the remainder of day at your leisure.

DAY 8 ACCRA – Departure
Breakfast at hotel. Check-out is at 12.00pm but you can still leave your luggage at the hotel and continue to enjoy the city at your leisure until your transfer to the airport.
According to flight schedule, private transfer to the airport with English speaking assistance.
